USB-TRUTH ABOUT TYPE-C CABLE
Type-c:
Generally we all USB(Universal serial bus) cables in our daily life but we don't know there speeds anf versions the link between these versions and speed,In these days every gadget is having a connector called type-c which everybody thinks if we have a type-c connector then we can charge our device in 30 minutes or in 65 watts.
Types of USB cable :
Type-A:
We all might have seen this because it is a common connector used in almost every cable. This cable is USB Type-A,which is almost present in all computers except MAC's It contains Micro and Mini versions but we may not use them.

We all know about the USB types but we don't that it contains versions. There are many versions of each type like version 1,version 2,version 3, version 3.1,version 3.2 and so on.These versions are classified based on speeds provided by them
Speeds by different versions:
Standard | Also Known As | Max. Data Transfer Speed |
---|---|---|
USB 2.0 | Hi-Speed USB | 480 Mbps |
USB 3.2 Gen 1 | USB 3.0 USB 3.1 Gen 1 SuperSpeed USB | 5 Gbps |
USB 3.2 Gen 2 | USB 3.1 USB 3.1 Gen 2 SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps | 10 Gbps |
USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 | USB 3.2 SuperSpeed USB 20Gbps | 20 Gbps |
Truth about USB-C:
- USB-C Provides fact charging: This is not true IF the cable connector is a USB-C doesn't mean that it provides fast charging the minimum required power for a Type-c cable is 3Amps of power and 60 watts voltage
- If it is a USB-C cable it doesn't mean it transfers data fast it depends on version used by us.
- Consider If we have USB-C 3.1 and If the hardware is not capable of handling 3.1 version then we may get low speeds.
What is Thunderbolt:
Thunderbolt is a hardware interface by intel on collaboration with apple that allows to connect the external peripherals to a computer it also have three versions and the third version uses USB Type-c which gives the highest speed of 40 Gbps.
Proprietary connectors:
What about these connectors which category these connectors comes in as normal they also have hardware to support Versions as standard the connecting pins are different some of the companies create there own connectors called Proprietary connectors for example lightning cable of apple and some Nokia old phones used to have a think pin to charge etc.
